Hello Music Families and Staff,

As our fall competition season winds down, we now look ahead to our holiday concert performances, fundraisers, and community events that round out the year.

As we move into November, please join us at our General Meeting on Monday, November 10 at 7 PM in the NHS Choir Room (also livestreamed via Google Meet) as we prepare for our 3rd Annual Holiday Pop-Up Market and January Tricky Tray, director reports, ongoing and upcoming fundraisers as well as financial updates.

Included in this newsletter is information on current student fundraising opportunities as well as our "Dine to Donate" events at Chipotle and Bacarosa. We have also re-launched our Nutley Music Spirit Gear Sale now through November 14.

Please make sure you’ve joined our BAND App, the main hub for all announcements, fundraisers, and volunteer sign-ups. And don’t forget to regularly check the Parent Info Hub for updates, event details, and new opportunities throughout the year.

With Thanksgiving approaching, I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all our parents, students, teachers, and community partners for the time, talent, and generosity you continue to share. The spirit of gratitude is alive and well in Nutley’s music community, and I’m truly thankful for each of you.

Student Spotlight – NJMEA All-State Mixed Chorus

Please join us in congratulating and wishing the following students the best of luck as they represent Nutley in the NJMEA All-State Mixed Chorus this Friday in Atlantic City!

For those wishing to see our All-State students perform locally, they will appear at NJPAC in on Sunday, November 16 at 6:00 PM.

Ensemble Accomplishments

The NHS Chamber Singers participated in the Montclair State University ChoralFest on October 31
Violist Brett Deubner from the NJ Symphony Orchestra spent the day with Ms. Nowik's string musicians in grades 5-12 on October 31. Mr. Deubner works around the world as a soloist, chamber musician and clinician.
The NHS Marching Band placed 3rd at the USBands NJ State Championships for Group 3 Open on November 1. They will compete at the USBands National Championships this Saturday, November 8 at MetLife Stadium at 12:10 PM.

Community Partnership – NFSB Thanksgiving Food Drive

Now more than ever, our community needs our support.

Join the Nutley Music Boosters on Friday, November 7 at 8:00 PM at the Nutley Park Oval during the Marching Band Family & Friends Show as we collect donations to benefit the Nutley Family Service Bureau’s Food Pantry.

Items Needed for Thanksgiving Meals:

Cranberry Sauce
Canned Yams
Turkey Gravy

Most Needed Pantry Items:

Every donation helps provide a warm meal and hope for a local family this Thanksgiving.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the Nutley Family Service Bureau for their continued partnership and support, including their help with our recent Clothing Drive!

A Festive Day of Shopping and Holiday Fun!

Nutley Parks & Recreation Gymnasium

Enjoy 40+ local vendors and holiday fun! Local organizations and our music student organizations will be on site as well to raise funds for their causes.

50/50 Raffle: $10 for 10 tickets — winner announced at end; need not be present.
Photos with Santa: $10 each — capture a memorable holiday moment!

Just in time for the holidays, we’re thrilled to announce the launch our 2nd Nutley Music & Raiders Spirit Gear Sale! Now through November 14, 2025, you can shop custom Nutley Music and Nutley Raiders apparel and accessories—and a portion of every sale will go back to Music Boosters.

Pick-Up Option: Nutley Music Parents can choose free local pick-up, with items distributed by Music Boosters approximately 3 weeks after sales close.

California Trip Payments

For families participating in the 2026 California Music Department Trip, the 2nd payment of $500 was due on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Fundraising credits may be applied toward all future payments. Group Travel Network is starting book things like air and tickets, so please make sure you are up to date!

Schedule:

3rd Payment: $500 due December 1, 2025
4th Payment: $500 due January 1, 2026
5th Payment: $500 due February 1, 2026
Final Payment: $300 / Remaining Balance due February 15, 2026

Membership and Ways to Stay Involved

Membership is just $25 per family and directly supports our programs while giving your student full eligibility for fundraising credits and for seniors, our scholarships.
Please reach out if you are unsure of your membership status before purchasing. If you have a student in marching band, you are all set!
Volunteer: Help with the Holiday Pop-Up, Fundraiser deliveries, and other hospitality events (sign-ups via BAND App).
