NMBA offers Student Fundraising Credits to support Nutley music students in offsetting expenses related to their participation in the music programs at John H. Walker Middle School (JHWMS) and Nutley High School (NHS). These credits are managed by the Music Boosters Treasurer and are only available to students who participate in designated fundraising activities. Students who take part are tracked in the Student Fundraising Credits spreadsheet.
Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in various fundraising activities. Some of the most common include the sale of ShopRite and Stop & Shop gift cards, RaiseRight gift cards, Gertrude Hawk Chocolate Bars, seasonal plant sales, and Thanksgiving pies, among others. A designated portion of each sale is applied directly to the student’s fundraising credit balance.
The credits a student fundraises can only be used toward music-related expenses, including but not limited to:
Registration and audition fees for All-Area, Region, and State Band, Choir, and Orchestra
Participation fees for Marching Band, Indoor Percussion, Color/Winter Guard, or other music programs that require uniforms or camp fees
Music-related trips and performances
Purchase of music program apparel
Tickets to music events such as Café Night and the Annual Music Awards Dinner
If a student has a sibling currently attending JHWMS or NHS, any unused Student Fundraising Credits may be transferred to that sibling upon graduation. This transfer must be requested in writing by a parent or guardian. If credits remain unused and are not transferred, they will be split equally upon the student’s graduation: 50% will go to NMBA’s Student-in-Need Fund, and the remaining 50% will be added to the general fund for future capital improvements or purchases.

Honor your NHS Music legacy or a special person or loved one with a personalized nameplate on a NHS Auditorium seat.
The Nutley High School "Sponsor a Seat" program allows individuals or businesses to support the performing arts by sponsoring a seat in the school's auditorium. In return for their sponsorship, donors receive a personalized plaque on a seat, recognizing their contribution. The funds raised through this program help maintain and enhance the auditorium, providing resources for the school's theater, music, and other performing arts programs.
The nameplate includes three lines of text, each allowing up to 35 characters per line. This customization gives sponsors the opportunity to include a name, dedication, or message of their choice.
